About Me

Dr. Sarah Graff
I have extensive experience with depression and other mood disorders (bipolar, unipolar, pre-menstrual and post-partum mood disorders), anxiety disorders (panic, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder), OCD and related disorders (trichotillomania, skin picking, hoarding), paranoia and psychotic disorders, ADHD, insomnia, anger management, and all types of addiction. I have particular skill at guiding high functioning people through acute stress such as grief, medical and age related stress, executive level work and academic pressures, marital crises, parenting crises, and a full range of identity crises.
I attended medical school at the University of California, San Francisco and completed residency training at the Cambridge Health Alliance, at Harvard Medical School. These programs are distinguished by their commitment to teaching a complete range of psychotherapies, including psychoanalytic and cognitive behavioral therapies, as well as evidence-based psychopharmacology. After residency training, I worked extensively with adult, geriatric, and forensic patients in many settings in Massachusetts. My expertise includes work in outpatient clinics, crisis stabilization units, partial hospital programs, inpatient psychiatric units, jails, medical units as consultant, and hospital administration.
In 2010, I relocated from Massachusetts to Orange County, California, and have worked in private practice since then. I am passionate about my practice and want to bring my patients the best possible treatment. I regularly attend continuing medical education programs and collaborate extensively with my peers on both coasts. Long term treatment with my patients has convinced me that good mental health is not a product of therapy and medication alone. I place increasing value on our need for humor, quality sleep, good nutrition, exercise, stress reduction, and mindfulness based practices like yoga and meditation. These simple tools will always inform my work and personal life.
